about

Beyond the highest mountains and deepest seas lies a war-torn realm of magic, spirits and legends. Once a peaceful and idyllic land full of life in all of its numerous forms, it was not long ago that the greed of a few amongst mankind to allowed an Empire to rise and cast its shadow upon the meadows and forests of the world. Tearing deep scars into the mountains and the ground, the people of the Empire exploited the natural resources of their realm until there was nothing more to mine.

Desperate in their need for infinite growth and prideful in its might, they began to take their proud knights and screeching war machines to the lands of the Nomad Tribes and the seemingly endless forest of the Eldest. But after a series of early victories, the military might of the Empire faces serious opposition as the their enemies start summoning spirits of nature to aid them in their battles. Fearing defeat, the Empire starts to deploy the help of mages that have found ways to resurrect the fallen soldiers as soulless, fighting husks. But it turns out that the Necromancers have their own plans to turn the tides of war…

Of Battles and Bases is an album/music pack inspired by my nostalgia for High Fantasy games such as Warcraft III or Heroes of Might and Magic V. The Bandcamp version features 19 tracks written for 4 different factions loosely based on Warcraft III’s original four factions, as well as 3 bonus tracks, and 8 Victory/Defeat-cues.
